A Norfolk Southern general freight gets moving up through the Seven Mile Valley out of Hamilton, Ohio, on the road's New Castle District. MofW equipment on the head-end indicates that this is probably a low priority train, which will have to step aside for the intermodals and the crack Triple Crown road-railers on the way to Muncie, Ind.
This is my favorite line to photograph, especially though the valley here. It was originally a secondary Pennsy branch, and was bought by N&W in 1976 to connect Cincinnati with Ft. Wayne. It went from being a branch with SW1's with a few covered hoppers to 60 mph road-railers. If Conrail kept it, they surely would have tore it up. (Like they did with the parallel NYC line I grew up next to.)
(Sky is played with, having used the GIMP to dress it up and make fake clouds.)
Now THAT is a beautiful pic of a train thru a field. +fav.

It's beautiful, I like the colours in the sky and I like the colours of the crops.

I live in Ross
which is right near Hamilton
and Seven Mile,
and I really do think that this picture
shows the
feel of Seven Mile.
It's a really pretty place,
even though it's smack dab
in the middle of
Hicksville.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
